Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a remarkable polymeric material. Not only is it highly chemical resistant, durable, flexible, and electrically and thermally resistive, it is also an extremely cost-effective option for high-performance seals and ‘O’ rings. Here, Antliaworks Polymer Solutions talks you through PTFE’s uses and properties.

• Diaphragms • Butterfly Valve Sleeves
• Bellows • Rubber/ Silicone Cords
• Anti-vibration pads • Styrene Butadiene Rubber products
• Rubber/ Silicone Gaskets • Rubber Spider Coupling
• Heat Exchanger Gaskets • Chevron Packing
• Rubber/ Silicone/PTFE O rings • Rubber Grommets
• PTFE Parts • Silicone Tubing

The benefits of PTFE

Due to PTFE’s prevalent carbon-fluorine bonds – widely regarded as the strongest single bond in organic chemistry – it offers high flexural strength and is chemically inert. It also provides excellent electrical insulation and dielectric strength; is extremely weatherable and non-adhesive; is water-resistant; offers high-temperature resistance and has the lowest coefficient of friction of any solid.
PTFE also features a broad operating temperature range, from -30°C to +200°C, has a hardness range of 70 to 85 IRHD and is easy to clean. Best of all, given all of these admirable traits, PTFE it is a relatively cost-effective elastomeric option for seals and ‘O’ rings. The disadvantage of PTFE as a sealing material is that it will creep under compression. Antliaworks have solved this problem by using a bonded rubber core to energize PTFE seals, providing resistance to compression. The core material is selected depending upon the temperature required for the seal.

What is PTFE used for?

PTFE’s beneficial properties enable it to be used in a wide range of applications, such as seals (including PTFE ‘O’ rings), PTFE gaskets, valves, wire insulation, insulated transformers, bearings, surface coatings, chemical processing equipment, chemical transport, and PTFE rubber diaphragms – to name but a few.

Chemical & Refineries:

AODD Pump can manage all types of chemicals admit acids, bases, solvents and alkalis, resins and adhesives, high-density liquids and viscous products even with the presence of solid parts and particles. Moreover, they can also transfer oil skimming, oil sludge, stormwater, seawater, drainage water, latex, corrosion inhibitors, fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides and more.

The AODD Pump finds application in the pumping of raw materials and derivatives, stormwater drainage, unload trucks, sump, and tanks drainage, empty the cistern and to be used in wastewater treatment, desalination plants, scrubber’s application, distillation plant, and filters press.

PTFE’s chemical resistance

The chemical resistance of PTFE is potentially its most impressive characteristic. Simply put, there are no solvents that can dissolve PTFE at room temperature. In fact, barring a handful of chemical agents, including chlorine trifluoride and elementary fluorine, PTFE’s only real Achilles heel is its relatively poor resistance to high energy radiation, which causes the breakdown of the PTFE molecule.

Benefits of Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps

Understanding the Benefits and Applications of Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps An air operated double diaphragm pump (AODD) is a type of positive displacement pump that uses compressed air as the source of energy to move liquids. It consists of two flexible diaphragms that separate the pumping chamber from the air inlet and outlet. The air pressure causes the diaphragms to expand and contract, creating suction and discharge strokes that move the liquid through the pump. One of the key benefits of AODD pumps is that they are self-priming and can operate in both wet and dry conditions. They are also capable of handling liquids with high viscosities and solids, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Additionally, they are simple in design and require minimal maintenance, making them a cost-effective solution for many industrial applications. AODD pumps are commonly used in a variety of industries, including chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and water treat

Double Diaphragm Pump

What’s a double diaphragm pump? An air worked double diaphragm pump (also known as a Double-Membrane pump, pneumatic diaphragm pump or air-worked diaphragm pump) is a positive displacement pump that utilizes a mix of the responding activity of an elastic, thermoplastic or Teflon/pate diaphragm and appropriate valves on either side of the diaphragm (check valve, butterfly valves, fold valves, or some other type of stop valves) to pump a fluid. Diaphragm Pumps also known as Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pump ( AODD pump ), is a sort of responding positive displacement pump in which fluid is pumped by a responding diaphragm, which is driven by a solenoid, mechanical drive, or fluid drive. Different forms are air worked Pump has inlet & outlet check values. Diaphragm pump has great dry running qualities; they can be up to 97% effective. Diaphragm Pumps can deal with exceedingly thick fluids. A double diaphragm pump is known as a positive displacement pump. It utilizes two d
