4 reasons to use AODD pump

Air Operated Double Diaphragm pump are also used in the cosmetic and cleaning industry to pumping a lot of fluids starting from the raw materials and the end-products up to chemicals and additives.

Typical fluids used in the cosmetic and cleaning field are: lotions, surfactants, fabric softener, creams, shampoos, emulsions, hair permanents, soaps, foaming agent, disinfectants, detergents, gels and others more.

Air Operated Double Diaphragm pump, also called Air Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) pumps, use compressed air to move the diaphragms. They are seen by many as the safest design for pumping more aggressive chemicals. AODD pumps are limited to 6m suction lift, but they can operate with as much as a 160 metre discharge head.
At Pump Solutions Australasia, we have choose Ran Pumps to make our AODD pumps. They are the finest in the world and are made in Turkey.

An air operated double diaphragm pump (AODD) is a type of reciprocating positive displacement pump that is powered by compressed air. Sometimes this pump type is referred to as an air operated diaphragm (AOD) pump. Like any diaphragm pump, they are designed to move liquid by using reciprocating diaphragms to expand and contract a pumping chamber. They're safe, easy to use, and can be used even where electrical power is not available.

AODD pumps are useful in a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications, including pumping of viscous or difficult fluids such as fuels, glues, paints, resins, and inks. They're also used in the processing of food-based or cosmetic liquids. AODD pump manufactures in Australia are built to handle liquids containing solids, and they come in a variety of materials to handle corrosive liquids. Since this pump type creates a vacuum in the inlet when it is pumping, it can be mounted above the liquid it is pumping.

4    reasons to use AODD pump:

1. MULTIPLE OPTIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION:

AODD pumps have found applications in multiple industries, ranging from chemicals, food processing, paints, electronics, mining and everything in between. AODD pumps manufacturers come in a variety of sizes and materials of construction and their versatility means there is a pump for every fluid.

Materials of construction include bodies in acetal, aluminium, cast iron, polypropylene, PTFE, Stainless Steel and Kynar and many elastomers choices. The material and size selected can be selected to cope with almost any fluid that needs to be pumped.

2. SIMPLISTIC DESIGN:

The simplicity of AODD pumps makes them appealing to everyone from amateur to professional users. They are best described as a ‘plug in and play’ product because once they are connected to a compressed airline, they effectively take care of themselves; they can run dry dead-head without damage. Their ease of use combined with a highly effective capability of pumping most materials makes them the pump of choice for many in the industry.

3. SAFETY:

Since AODD pumps use compressed air as their only power source, they are intrinsically safe and are available ATEX Certified for use in applications where it is not possible to use electricity or it is dangerous to do so, such as in hazardous or explosive environments or at remote sites.

4. FLEXIBILITY AND DISCHARGE CAPABILITY:

AODD Pump sizes from ¼” to 4” are available giving flow rates between 19lpm and 1,100lpm. With manufacturers offering a range of flexible sizes, users can buy a pump that will give them a perfectly balanced system. To give an idea of what this means in real terms, a ¼” pump will empty an IBC (1,000litres) of water in 53 minutes whereas a 3” pump will take just 1 minute.

Another attraction of AODD pumps comes from the fact that standard units 1:1 ratio pumps, meaning the air pressure in equals the fluid pressure out giving potential discharge pressures of up to 8bar. All this without mentioning the high pressure e.g. 2:1 ratio pumps.

Benefits of Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps

Understanding the Benefits and Applications of Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps An air operated double diaphragm pump (AODD) is a type of positive displacement pump that uses compressed air as the source of energy to move liquids. It consists of two flexible diaphragms that separate the pumping chamber from the air inlet and outlet. The air pressure causes the diaphragms to expand and contract, creating suction and discharge strokes that move the liquid through the pump. One of the key benefits of AODD pumps is that they are self-priming and can operate in both wet and dry conditions. They are also capable of handling liquids with high viscosities and solids, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Additionally, they are simple in design and require minimal maintenance, making them a cost-effective solution for many industrial applications. AODD pumps are commonly used in a variety of industries, including chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and water treat

Double Diaphragm Pump

What’s a double diaphragm pump? An air worked double diaphragm pump (also known as a Double-Membrane pump, pneumatic diaphragm pump or air-worked diaphragm pump) is a positive displacement pump that utilizes a mix of the responding activity of an elastic, thermoplastic or Teflon/pate diaphragm and appropriate valves on either side of the diaphragm (check valve, butterfly valves, fold valves, or some other type of stop valves) to pump a fluid. Diaphragm Pumps also known as Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pump ( AODD pump ), is a sort of responding positive displacement pump in which fluid is pumped by a responding diaphragm, which is driven by a solenoid, mechanical drive, or fluid drive. Different forms are air worked Pump has inlet & outlet check values. Diaphragm pump has great dry running qualities; they can be up to 97% effective. Diaphragm Pumps can deal with exceedingly thick fluids. A double diaphragm pump is known as a positive displacement pump. It utilizes two d
